Shivaratri, one of the most auspicious festivals in Hindu culture, is celebrated with great fervor and devotion. This sacred occasion honors Lord Shiva, the destroyer of evil and the god of transformation. Amidst the prayers, rituals, and fasting, a delightful treat often finds its way into the festivities – sesame ladoo.
This festive reminds me of memories from my hostel days. I was sharing a room with a senior who was pursuing medicine and like everytime we used to look fwd for anyone returning from home for the goodies they used to carry back 😀.. But with Rashmi akka we used to wait for Shivratri every year when she used to carry back a big box of Sesame ladoos for us ..
I never knew of the delightful tradition of enjoying sesame ladoo during this festival , but would definitely await so that we could relish the sweet bites of Black sesame pounded with jaggery and coconut that gave a earthy flavour and a Symbol of Tradition with Nourishment .The earthy sweetness of jaggery complements the nuttiness of sesame seeds, creating a harmonious blend of flavors.
As we celebrate Shivaratri, let us embrace the traditions and rituals that connect us to our spiritual roots. Let us savor the sweetness of sesame ladoo, not just as a culinary delight but as a symbol of devotion and gratitude. May the blessings of Lord Shiva fill our hearts with joy, peace, and prosperity.
Happy Shivaratri!
