Allam pachadi /Ginger pickle is so very popular in Andhra cuisine that needs no introduction.
The bursting flavor of ginger with the tangy tamarind and lil jaggery added makes this Allam Pachadi the best combination with Pesarattu, idli or dosa, hot steamed rice, and even curd rice.
This Allam pachadi is so close to my heart and my school and college friends too … Amma always used to make it in small batches so that the taste and flavour are fresh …
As I remember Amma telling me that when I was in her womb this was the pickle that she kept making in batches and relished, and so here I am born relishing this flavour bomb in the womb 😀😀..
At school, my friends used to eagerly wait for me to open my tiffin box and if it was dosa /idly then I used to end up eating nothing 😀… I used to tell amma to pack extra pachadi every time as the pachadi lovers in the school need not have it with dosa but just lick the pickle.
The story continued to my hostel days too where my friends would specifically demand for this pickle and say get double the quantity packed and Amma always happily did that ❤️… During hostel days we have relished this pickle with Marie biscuits and as a spread on the bread too …
Now you know why this Allam Pachadi is so versatile and so very much close to my heart …
